Morrissey - 'Have-A-Go Merchant' UK Promo 7" - 1995
Catalogue no. RDJ 6400 - Parlophone Records
This promotional 7", having unique artwork which was not issued on any standard single, was released in very limited numbers in the UK to coincide with the release of the 1995 'World Of Morrissey' album. This 7" rarely turns up for sale and was listed in Record Collector's recent (November 2009) 'Top 50 Morrissey Rarities' article; appearing to be scarcer than the CD promotional equivalent, which was probably issued in larger quantities. While the tracks listed on the sleeve and record labels are 'Have-A-Go Merchant' and 'Whatever Happens, I Love You', the tracks on the vinyl are actually 'Boxers' on the A-Side and 'Have-A-Go Merchant' on the B-Side. This quirky fact probably does not constitute a 'mispress' since all copies are believed to be thus, but the record itself differs from the standard 'Boxers' 7" release in its distinctive red record labels. Information in the Record Collector article suggests that 'Have-A-Go Merchant' was originally earmarked for release as a single accompanied by the sleeve artwork seen here, which makes this unique sleeve effectively unreleased 7" artwork. This is a rare chance to obtain an extremely collectable original Morrissey promotional 7" which has been kept in superb condition (see below); seeming highly likely to increase in value in the condition being offered here.The sleeve is in strong excellent condition with no rips, tears, writing or seam splits, and barely any signs of wear even on the corners. There are a couple of very mild beginnings of light creases near the top and bottom which are barely visible. The only imperfection is one small darker area of 'discolouration' near the top left of the sleeve which looks like an area where a sticker was removed, but the shiny surface of the sleeve in this area has not been broken. There is practically no discernable 'ringwear' due to the record having been stored outside of its sleeve. The vinyl and labels are also in strong excellent condition, being almost certainly unplayed and having just some thin 'hairline' surface marks in a few places on the otherwise-glossy vinyl surface. There are no visible marks on the red labels. Please see the accompanying photos; note that the Ebay ID lettering is just on the pictures and not the item itself.
