The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

Morrissey - 'We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful' And 'You're The One For Me, Fatty' 2 Retro Promo 10's' - 1992

In 1992, two superb 'retro-style' promotional 10" records were issued by HMV in very limited numbers to radio stations to promote the two Morrissey singles 'We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful' and 'You're The One For Me, Fatty'. This auction is for both of these 10" promotional records, which were released in red and 'olive green' promo HMV sleeves respectively; since these were the only two singles to be promoted by such 10" 'retro' records, this represents a complete set. The records are particularly interesting to collectors in that they not only have terrific old-style HMV labels, but they also have one version of the track at 45 RPM on one side and the same track at 78 RPM on the other! The terrific 10" sleeves are also in keeping with the style of old HMV sleeves, with a selection of notable past artists and genuine catalogue numbers on the reverse. These are extremely scarce original and official collectable records, and true curiosities whose values seem set to grow as copies are snapped up by the expanding Morrissey and Smiths collecting community. These are both being auctioned in used condition (see below), having been played and, no doubt, used for their intended promotional purposes.The vinyl and labels for 'We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful' are in excellent condition, having been played but pretty well looked-after. There are superficial surface marks on the still-glossy vinyl in a few place, which do not affect the playback of the record. The terrific thin paper outer sleeve is somewhere between being in very good and excellent condition, having just one small tear at the top right hand corner and two very small tears on the reverse at the sleeve mouth. Other than this, there is no seam-splitting and the sleeve looks very presentable with only some mild unobtrusive creasing in a few places and no writing or damage. There is some minor wear to the corners, but otherwise the edges are relatively unworn. In the case of 'You're The One For Me, Fatty' the vinyl and labels are in strong excellent condition, having been played but sustaining only very minor superficial 'hairline' surface marks on the glossy vinyl in a few places which can only be seen when held to the light. The retro outer sleeve is in excellent condition, with no tears or significant seam-splitting anywhere. There is no writing or damage, but there is some moderate creasing towards the top and bottom of the sleeve. Other than this, the only signs of wear are some mild corner and edge wear in a few places; the sleeve nonetheless remains very presentable and looks striking with its stylish vintage design. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the items themselves.
