The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

Morrissey - 'We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful' Retro Promo 10'' - 1992

In 1992, two superb 'retro-style' promotional 10" records were issued by HMV in limited numbers to radio stations to promote the two Morrissey singles 'We Hate It When Our Friends Become Successful' and 'You're The One For Me, Fatty'. This auction is for the former, which was released in a red promo HMV sleeve (see my other auction this week for the other). The record is particularly interesting in that it not only has terrific old-style HMV green, silver and black labels, but it also has one version of the track at 45 RPM on one side and the same track at 78 RPM on the other! The terrific red/white sleeve is also in keeping with the style of old HMV sleeves, with a selection of notable past artists and genuine catalogue numbers on the reverse. This is a truly intriguing collectable whose value seems set to grow as copies are snapped up by the expanding collecting community. This is in remarkable condition, appearing unplayed and having been stored outside of its sleeve for the majority of its existence.The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, with only the lightest of 'hairline' superficial surface marks in a few places on the highly-glossy vinyl; the record is almost-certainly unplayed. The outer sleeve is also in tremendous near mint condition, having no splits or tears in the delicate paper sleeve and no creases. There is not even any wear to the corners or edges and the record has been stored outside of the sleeve for much of its life, which has had the effect of minimising 'ringwear' to the sleeve and avoiding any splitting. There is just a mild impression due to the record having been in the sleeve when new, but no subsequent wear or 'rubbing' to the sleeve. A terrific item, and it may be a long time before another in the outstanding condition which is offered here is seen for sale.
