Description
Lovingly kept, mostly classical vinyl started by parent in the 60s and then myself in the 80s and 90s. Now being reluctantly sold as flat too small and too full and have gradually replaced everything over time with CDs, transferring them to FLAC files on an Innuos Zenith Mk 3 as something to do during COVID and sufficiently small for when I need an old people's home! There are 36 classical boxed sets - see photos, 19 full length operas - see photos, but two repeated (Dreigroschen and Entfuhrung) and about 285 other classical single and double albums - NO guarantees on exact numbers. Strong on Baroque especially Vivaldi, Bach, Handel etc. Lots of Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, Chopin, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Saint Saens etc up to end 19th Century, Not much 20th Century - some Rachmaninov, Prokofiev and Brecht/Weill. Haydn almost completely absent - really stupid on my part. Symphonies , concertos, chamber with a small fixation on trios. Some focus on certain performers especially pianists eg Horowitz, Rubenstein, Barenboim, Bolet, Brendal, Gould, Moiseivitch, Rosenthal although albums are re-issues and/or digital remasters. The Chaliapin reissue is a knock-out. Many of Kathleen Ferrier's recordings - all fabulous.
About 35 Jazz albums 20s to 50s - lost interest at Bebop and beyond. Quintet of the Hot Club of France, Willie the Lion Smith, Spanier, Bechet, Bessie Smith, Hines, Hawkins, Holliday, Ellington at Newport 1956 etc are there, also about 11 are the Robert Parker remastered in stereo series from the late 80s (Dodds, Armstrong, Ellington, Waller, Henderson, Beiderbecke and compilations) which really were a vast improvement.
Small amount of pop/rock from the 70s - Yes, tubular bells of course, dark side, hendrix, beatles 67-70, carly simon, supertramp breakfast in america - don't get excited, not much.
Please Note: I will be keeping about 10 of these for sentimental reasons - they are not in the photographs except possibly the Dylan Highway 61 original and the Johnny Hodges Verve double album.
