This is a 1968 stereo pressing of WE'RE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY. There seems to be some contention about which versions of this album are censored and thus do not resemble the original release. Until I started typing this I was not aware of any censorship. Truth is, there were many variations of the album originally released in 1968 that were subject to varying degrees of editing. Many characteristics are replicated in these pressings, like the big 'REV-F' inscription in the run-outs. Practically NONE of these descriptors ensure that a copy is truly uncensored and anyone selling their copy as such by referring to these descriptors (matrices, catalog numbers and a host of others) is probably full of S#!T. Don't be duped. The only way to trace edited tracks is to listen to them. Previously unaware of the alleged cuts, I had to go back and listen to the tracks in question:
1) At the beginning of "Absolutely Free", a woman speaks the line "I don't do publicity BALLING for you anymore" (probably a tape segment, as Zappa was over-fond of musique concrete). 2) On "Let's Make The Water Turn Black", the recording refers to "...Mama, with her apron and her PAD,...", just as it is printed on the interior gatefold. 3) There is NO reference to The Velvet Underground on "Concentration Moon".

Apparently, the earliest pressings of this album are more accurately designated as 'normal censored' or 'lightly censored'. This copy is definitely not UNcensored. There does not seem to be a version released on Verve that Zappa originally envisioned. Beware.
These descriptors are TRUE to this copy: -original insert included -gatefold copy -the tracks are not separated (un-banded) -side 2, track 4 is printed "Lonely Little Girl" on the label; printed "It's His Voice On The Radio" on the interior gatefold -side 2, track 1 is printed "Nasal Retentive Caliope Music" on the label, "Nasal Retentive Calliope Music" on the gatefold -the catalog number is printed V6 5045X on the jacket exterior, V6-5045 on the labels -includes the "A Division of Third Story Music Co." text on the label (which apparently differentiates this copy from other early Verve pressings)
I do not give out grades above vg+ for anything that has been removed from its original packaging.
