Description

Artist :  MOTT THE HOOPLE

LP Title :  Mad Shadows

Label :  Island / ILPS 9119 / 1970  STEREO

Matrix Numbers :  A-2U (stamper 1, G) / B-2U (stamper 1, G)

Notes :  Original UK 1st Pressing, the matrix numbers are A-2 and B-2 though I believe this is the matrix for all first pressings.  Chunky vinyl, pink 'i' labels, plain white 'Made in England' inner sleeve with patent no. in bottom left corner, lovely thick board E.J. Day gatefold sleeve.

Condition :  The vinyl is in outstanding near mint condition with just a couple of very small hairline marks visible, I am playing selected parts now and the sound is absolutely wonderful!  Just the trace of a very tiny static click every now and then.  This record can only ever have been played a couple of times before I am sure.  The pink 'i' labels are pretty much perfect, clean and unworn, with some very light spindle marks visible on side 2 only.  There are a couple of tiny smudgey marks on the side 1 label but I think these are just very minor manufacturing defects.

The thick board gatefold sleeve is in good condition also, with some visible wear at the bottom , and some wear around the edges.  The spine is nice and square with some minor signs of wear.  The inner gatefold is very close to perfect.

All-in-all a truly fine example, and early pressing of this Mott The Hoople album.
