The catalog number on this is ELV001. (ELV000 was Welcome Nowhere by Thanksgiving). But this was the first Mount Eerie record I put out on P.W. Elverum & Sun, the thing I'm still doing, up to almost ELV050 now. Anyway, that's more something I think is cool, not you.
This is a strange record. I was on tour in Australia in the summer of 2004 and someone set me up a thing at a pressing plant in Melbourne where you could record live music directly onto acetate and then press vinyl right away. It was cool to see the whole process. I didn't want to merely just play some songs by myself so I got a big group together and we (barely) learned the 2 new songs I'd just made up for the occasion. They're long, shambolic, searching, weird. These are 2 songs I don't really like and haven't made available digitally (which is saying something considering I tend to just put it all out there, especially the embarrassing parts.) So anyway, we made a big batch right there in Melbourne and sold those at the Australian shows. Then I had them send the stampers over to the US and I pressed this version of it: ELV001.
There were 600 of these made. I silkscreened the covers on the inside out jackets of old LPs. This one has some interesting fine print underneath the art that works. It also includes the double sided insert.

and, as with my other sales, this is "new", the archival copy, never played. and it will never be reissued. r. a. r. e.
