Description
Muddy Waters LP At Newport 1960 (170gm Pye Jazz NJL34 UK 1960) VG+/G
On Pye Jazz (Cat: NJL34) UK vinyl LP 1960, with Otis Spann on piano (and vocals on last track side B), & James Cotton on harmonica.
The record sound quality is EXCELLENT on side B, but gets a lower grading to VERY GOOD on side A due to some crackles on the tracks. This made me grade it overall as VERY GOOD. The cover has a seam split approx. 2-inches long at the top, so for this it gets only a GOOD rating. See my descriptions below.
The record labels are clean & have no writing or stickers. The playing surfaces showed up no problems from visual inspection. The record was play graded and there are no jumps, but side A has some crackles on tracks 1&2, and fewer on tracks 3,4&5. On side B Tracks 1&2 have very few light crackles, tracks 3&4 have just 3 clicks, and there are no jumps. Record is graded VERY GOOD.
The Garrod & Lofthouse cover is a flip-back with laminated front and matt rear. There is a 2-inch seam split at the top of the cover. The spine is clean sharp and readable. The front has two 2-inch creases near the upper open edge, & one 2-inch crease near the spine. There are dinks on the top corners & crumple corners on the bottom – see photos. The rear has very little age discolouration. The flip-back is complete and intact. The cover is graded GOOD.
Track list – please see photo.
