This LP is badly misnamed. It was not recorded at any kind of "folk festival". I think the name was an attempt to capitalize on the folk music craze that swept the nation in the 50s and early 60s. The LP was recorded live at a club in Chicago and these guys rarely, if ever, played together again. First tune is Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and Buddy Guy singing together. Otis Spann plays piano all over this record. Four tunes feature Muddy. Two tunes feature Howlin' Wolf. Two feature Buddy Guy and one for Sonny Boy Williamson #2 (Rice Miller). According to the announcer Little Walter is there too. This is the best Chicago Blues men captured live! I listened to the whole LP on headphones and there is precious little surface noise even though you can see plenty of marks on the vinyl. I was surprised how good it sounded. This is a re-issue of the original Argo LP-4031 that has been "electronically altered for stereo" and probably came out soon after, when stereo first appeared. I have seen this on Ebay on the Argo and Chess labels, but not on Cadet like this one, so it could be rare. The jacket says Argo but the disc says Cadet.
