Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition George Szell UK Columbia SAX 2556
The Cleveland Orchestra conducted by George Szell performs the “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Mussorgsky (or Mussorgsky here) and Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite”. An English stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAX 2556) the labels are red with white His Masters Voice, made in Great Britain at 6 o’clock, and a large fan shaped Columbia logo. Apart from a couple of surface marks on side two that do not sound, the record is of excellent appearance, and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover has rubbed with a few small creases in the laminate.
