The recordings of 'Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol' took place at the RCA studios in Copacabana, in a single take, meaning that we can say that the album was practically recorded “live in the studio”. Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol was the best-selling album of the Mutantes’ career and the tour that followed was also the longest in the band’s history. If it weren’t for the creative confinement of music labels, perhaps the Mutantes’ last studio album of the 1970s would be better understood. Accused of being the most progressive and least Brazilian of the Mutantes’ albums, the LP was a commercial success at the time, but to this day it still makes tropicalist widows uncomfortable.
Fifty years later, the cult following surrounding Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol seems stronger than ever. The album found its audience, its niche, under the banner of progressive rock.
