DANIELE e MARIA OST Lp music by NICOLA PIOVANI orchestra conducted by GIANFRANCO PLENIZIO. Original Italian promo 1st pressing on black BEAT label (LPF 016 S), from 1972. Melancholic lounge score with classical and psychedelic nuances to reference the storyline in this tale of forbidden teenage love. Piovani even adapts a theme by Dvorak into this score but also adds his own original compositions. Surprisingly features the killer baroque funk theme called LA LUCE with several open drum breaks / groovy rock bassline / atmospheric prog hammond and frantic harpsichord solos. Shades of the best Stelvio Cipriani sound and totally unexpected in the context of the rest of the score. We have also recorded the haunting ambience of DANIELE e LA MUSICA with its '70s pop classical motifs a la Morricone (sad strings and woodwind / beautiful acoustic guitar notes and psychedelic keyboard in the final phase) / the gentle psych tinged Mediterranean folk orchestrations and drifting vocal harmony of DANIELE (version 2) and delicate piano and strings of L'ETA di MARIA. Mood music from a little known film by Ennio De Concini starring Peter Firth and Junie Vetusto. Please note: our copy is the 1st press black Beat label promo dated 1972 with white sleeve artwork (also dated 1972) so don't get confused with the later issue that has the same looking sleeve but vinyl with a blue coloured label (dated 1976). Vinyl is in shiny, VG++ condition overall regardless of the faint star splash residue marks from the original pressing process and a few hairlines. Light surface noises. Some soft pops / soft ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip). The soft card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall regardless of the faded mottle marks to both sides of sleeve (common for this release) / small split to middle of bottom seam and another to the middle spine area (with some card deterioration). Some ring creasing and light corner wear. Old blemish / stain to middle of open side edge (back sleeve). Still a sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare OST Lp!!!
