This auction is for a very rare, vintage IDEAL record in new condition, direct from where it was pressed in San Benito, Texas. Record is from a record store stock that has been safely stored since it's date of manufacture and is an original issue. Records will be shipped with a free with purchase item of Ideal memorabilia such as vintage logo bag or advertisement.

CONDITION: Sealed record-Brand new and un-played. This record has not been opened or tested in order to remain sealed and is being sold AS IS. If you choose to bid on this item, please be open to communicating about any problems since I have no way of knowing how the record plays. Cover has a couple tiny bumps at the corner.

Ideal Records was founded in 1946 and became one of the most influential regional recording companies for Mexican-American music. Over the next few decades, Ideal Records helped launch the careers of several important performers, including Narciso Martinez, Tony de la Rosa, Valerio Longoria, Conjunto Bernal, and Beto Villa.

Narciso Martínez is the father of what is today known in South Texas as Conjunto Music. Narciso Martínez was the first successful recording artist who made hundreds of recordings of mostly instrumental dance songs emphasizing the melody side of the accordion and leaving the bass parts to his bajo sexto player. This established a new sound, a sound which to this day is immediately identifiable as Texas-Mexican Conjunto Music. Not only did Narciso establish the conjunto accordion sound, but he was also one of the first to accompany singers on commercial records when he became the house accordionist for the newly established IDEAL label of San Benito, Texas in 1946.
