Innerhalb des selbstgesteckten Rahmens ist die Platte sehr gut gemacht. Die klassischen Stücke werden sauber und rein gespielt, die virtuosen sind eben dies. Die Kompositionen von Smetana und Kodály (eine Liedtranskription) sind beide so reizvoll, dass man sie gerne auch in einem anderen Kontext hören möchte. Die Aufnahme, sowohl von Violine als auch von Klavier, ist hervorragend und ausgewogen.—Gramophone
Es ist eine Hommage an die Kunstfertigkeit von Nathan Milstein, dass er jede dieser Miniaturen - auch etwas so Banales wie die "Meditation" von "Thais" - in kleine Schmuckstücke verwandeln kann, die jeweils richtig gesetzt und schön ausgeführt sind. Hier ist eine LP, die auf Jahre hinaus den Hunger derer befriedigen sollte, die bei den Konzerten applaudieren, nur um immer mehr Zugaben zu hören.—High Fidelity
Of its kind, the record is very well done. The classical numbers are played cleanly and purely. The virtuosic ones are properly so. The Smetana and Kodály (a song transcription) are both evocative works so attractive as to make one wish they were obtainable in another context. The recording, both of violin and piano, is excellent, and well balanced.—Gramophone
It is a tribute to the artistry of Nathan Milstein that he is able to convert each of these miniatures - even something as trite as the "Meditation" from "Thais" - into little tonal gems, each properly set and beautifully projected.
