" MOZART - VIOLIN CONCERTOS No's. 4&5 " - (NATHAN MILSTEIN / PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA) Columbia/EMI Records (SAX 5254) STEREO, English Pressing, 1965.
Very rare first GB pressing with original red-semi Columbia label and flip-back Garrod & Lofthouse sleeve - see photos.
This record has been professionally cleaned on my Moth cleaning machine.
In the good spirit of ebay, I will start this LP off at just 99p to get the auction going.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT- (Although the vinyl looks unblemished under normal daylight conditions, under my bright grading lamp I can just make out a few incredibly faint paper-scuff marks, most probably as a result of the LP being taken in and out of it's inner sleeve. NO big scratches, groove damage, distortion, etc though. Both labels are clean with only light spindle trails, etc. On playback it generally plays strongly, although there is the occassional bit of faint backgroud surface noise audible during quieter moments of the recording - in my mind, this is by no means loud or consistent enough to ruin the listening experience... although it is only fair to point out so that potential bidders can take this into account when placing their max bids. Providing you are prepared to accept that it is vinyl record and not a sterile CD then this LP should make a good honest playing copy for someone - those looking for a museum piece or a lifeless CD would probably do best to avoid this particular LP though. Note: for the testing/grading of this record, I have used my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable, which is generally quite critical although I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP (or others I have for sale) will sound on your turntable - sorry to be so uptight, but I have met some very silly people on ebay over the years!)
SLEEVE = EXCELLENT- (NO rips, tears, creases or serious delamination. That said, I have marked it down for some very light general wear and for not being quite as white as it once was - see photos for more info... I might be being a bit mean with this grading but despite not too many describable faults, I don't quite feel that it would live up to an excellent grading - still a good honest 55 year old record sleeve though)
NOTE: It's probably worth pointing out that we are an actual long standing physical shop and soundtrack-specialist mail order firm with literally decades of record dealing experience under our collective belts and unlike so many of the jokers and have-a-go heroes that currently clog up ebay, we know how to grade records (often an excellent LP from us will surpass a less reputable seller's so-called mint items).
