This record is from Neil Diamond the American singer songwriter. He has sold more than 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. He has had ten No. 1 singles on the U.S. Thirty-eight songs by Diamond have reached the top and he has also acted in films, making his screen debut in the 1980. Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011.
Hot August Night is Diamonds 1972 live double album. The album is a recording of a Diamond concert on August 24, 1972, one of ten sold-out concerts that Diamond performed that month at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. This also marks the first album released by the newly formed MCA Records. Hot August Night is one of the biggest selling albums of all time in Australia, where it spent 29 weeks at number 1 during 1973 and 1974. Hot August Night was the number one charting album in Australia for the 1970s, entering the Australian album charts in late 1972 and still charting in the top 20 in 1976 and was listed as 10× Platinum.
