Legend has it, when UNI records was formed, the management sat around a table and wrote their choices for artists they would pursue. Elton John and Neil Diamond were two unanimous choices.
This would be Neil's first LP after departing Bang and in retrospect, it was a decent debut. But at the time it didn't attract a lot of attention. Two-Bit Manchild and Brooklyn Roads didn't make many stations playlists so the album was disregarded.
A couple of years later after Neil had become more marketable, Bang was still digging Diamonds from their vaults when they tried reissuing Shilo. When it hit, the folks at UNI thought they would also issue the song as the title cut for Neil's next album. There were no readily available tracks to assemble, so why not package it with the tracks from his first release. No one had heard it anyway so who would know?
Long story short - this is that first album from 1968 and most folks have never seen it. Gatefold cover is really nice, drillhole in top right and very minor bend in that same corner.
By the way, UNI seemed to have a habit of this repackaging. Neil's second album, "Brother Love's...Show" started out with the wagon cover but was quickly reissued with a new cover after adding Sweet Caroline to the tracklist.
