When the Grateful Dead met country music men Dawson & Nelson, the New Riders of the Purple Sage were born! Recorded in 1968-69, side A features the only known recording of the band's original lineup (John Dawson, David Nelson, Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart), plus two even earlier pre-NRPS tracks, while Side B represents Dawson's resurrection of the band in 1989 with an entirely new lineup.
