Limited numbered edition of 500 copies (hand numbered on the inside cover).
Includes 4-sheet insert with photos.
The Shadoks catalogue number can only be found in the runout groove.
The New Tweedy Brothers were one of the many late-'60s San Francisco bands that recorded but never broke through to a wide audience. In fact, their sole album is extremely rare, and most likely barely heard by anyone outside of San Francisco (and not that widely heard within town). It has a couple of excellent cuts that capture the trippy Haight-Ashbury spirit well, but on the whole is a pretty ordinary reflection of its time and place.
The New Tweedy Brothers' sole record starts out strong. "Somebody's Peepin'" sounds like a more pop-savvy Charlatans, and "I Can See It" is somewhat reminiscent of Surrealistic Pillow-era Jefferson Airplane with its major minor harmonies and alternately liquid-clean and distorted guitar lines. Which makes the rest of the album's humdrum material -- largely mediocre good-time blues-rock, or goofy psychedelia that's not very funny or well-written -- quite a letdown, and considerably dampens expectations of finding a lost gem.
