NIC JONES - 'Ballads and Songs'
(Rare UK Press on TRAILER/HIGHWAY, # LER 2014, Late 1970s press of 1970 LP)
Label/Sleeve -> White/Black Highway Label.
Grade (Cover/Vinyl) -> VG++ /MINT- Virtually MINT (Looks Unplayed)
Description -> Vinyl is in pristine shape. NO spindle marks, clean and shiny looking like new and unplayed vinyl. The center hole suggests that its not been placed on turntable. The label has a price sticker which I will not attempt to remove. The cover is in nice shape, clean and shiny with extremely light wear except a scotch tape 1inch or so center spine over beginning of a split. Nice Clean and readable spine. Top front cover has price written in pencil mark.(See picture).
This first solo album seems to set the tone for Nic Jones' five album set. The intricate guitar work is immediately
apparent, while the forceful singing drives the long ballads at a pace which demands the listener's full attention. Somber,
perhaps, but never repetitious.
Here we already have two of the songs that are most often cited now as among Nic's most lasting contributions to the
tradition - Annan Water and Sir Patrick Spens
