Records are in perfect condition and this set has been lovingly stored for years now.
Like a few other Castro leather editions from that year, it is made out of a supple deerskin. I have owned a number of Castro limited edition items, but this is only the 2nd leatherbound box set I have ever seen of his. This is also the only leatherbound set I have seen with suede appliqued lettering hand sewn on.
The sheet music did not originally come with the leatherbound set. I bought the set directly from Castro in 2006, and a few months later, I acquired the sheet music from a friend who worked on the early sessions for the album "COME INTO OUR HOUSE" and picked up the music that a player left behind. I am not sure what instrument the score is for, but it says "Soprano" and "Tenor" on it. There are hand written notes on most of the pages, and one page of completely hand written music for "Standing on the Standing Stone," and 10 pages of printed music with hand written notes for "Promises Unbroken." I think it is the music for the entire 12 minute song because there are so many sequential pages. I don't read music though.
I later verified with Nick Castro, through his website, that it was all his handwriting on the sheet music, but he did not remember who the "Mike" was whose phone number is written on the front page! There is no Mike on the album credits, but there is someone on the thank you list of the album named "Mike," but again, it was never verified it was in fact the same person.
