Description
For sale is a very rare 2nd UK press of Nick Drake’s second album Bryter Later. A1U/B1U matrices. Mother/stampers 1A/1L
The first issue from 1971 sold very few copies, but this 1972 second press only sold a similar number. It wasn’t until after Drake’s death in 1974 that his records began to gain a reputation, hence these early issues are now very rare and in demand.
The original textured sleeve does have some issues - staining at the bottom of the front and some damage to the rear, which could be label removal tear. The spine has wear, as is common with these unlaminated covers,so has no legible writing. There are, however, no rips or splits and no graffiti, so it is basically intact. On border of G+ and VG-.
The record looks great and plays superbly. In strong household light I can only see one very small unfeelable mark which does not effect play. The labels are unmarked and in excellent condition.
Sonically the record is wonderful. A few very minor crackles and perhaps a handful of quiet clicks, but otherwise just clear deep sound. No sticks, skips or jumps. And all this without professional cleaning.
