The 3 albums by the sublime and melancoly Nick Drake repackaged in 1979 in this handsome box set. This is an original 1979 first press in excllent condition. Much has been written about this gifted signer/songwriter and I do not wish to add my comments here other than to say these records contain, in my humble opinion, some of the finest music to come out of England in the past 40 years. I have owned this set from new and it has travelled with me over the past 27 years and the box acquired a few scuffs and marks but other than that very little wear.
This is a rare opporunity to accquire this genuine first pressing in outstanding condition.
Sleeves Unlaminated sleeves in near mint condition. No marks , creases or discolouration. Fantastic.
Inner sleeves Original Island black polylined sleeves in Ex + condition.
Labels Ex to near mint condition. A couple of labels have slight printing defects - one is offset with slight rubbing to outer rim
( see photo) and one has a slight dark ink mark near centre hole - nothing serious or distracting.
Vinyl Ex+ condition Perfectly flat and still with it's original 'just pressed' sheen all unmarked - fabulous throughout.
Sound All records play loud with very little surface noise - No jumps or clicks.One light pop on record 1 ( Five Leaves Left) 3rd track side 2.no groovewear -Some light surface noise on quiet passages, very minimal - these records have been looked after by myself from new and for many years I have used tapes and discs of these records rather than play the originals and wear tham out. Really beautiful sound throughout.
Book Near Mint - exceptional example.
Box Original laminated clamshell box with some slight damage as mentioned. Small tear to surface lamination at top of spine- light scuff in centre of spine edge - Lamination lifting slightly at bottom of spine. Small scuff across front and small area of lamination lifting on left of front of box. All colours strong with no fading.
A fine box set in outstanding condition overall. Totally original and in fine sound - definitely a must have for any serious Nick Drake / Folk collection. This set will definately not disappoint. Happy bidding.
