Nick Drake - Pink Moon
1972 Island UK Pink Rim 1ST PRESSING. ILPS 9184 (A-1U - B-1U).
Here Is a beautiful, barely played original first uk 1st pressing of 'Nick Drake's' third & final album. Referred to as Nick's 'Bleak Masterpiece', the album 'Pink Moon' only sold around 5,000 copies when originally released way back In 1972. And this original copy on offer here just has to be one of the best surviving examples out there. It'll be very hard to find the vinyl In better condition than this copy on offer here.
Both sides of the vinyl have a beautiful original full clean glossy sheen. There are no visible surface marks at all, this record looks as close to new as you will find. Even better Is that this album plays & sounds as good as It looks, as all tracks play & sound excellent throughout. I have fully play-tested both sides, & there Is no annoying loud background crackle to be heard, & absolutely no loud or repeated clicks or pops at all, & there Is also no lessening In the albums fantastic crisp & clear sound quality. Nothing at all to spoil the albums beautiful, fragile, delicate music. This rare album has obviously been very well looked after, & barely played at all. It's near Impossible to find this album In this condition today, & It may be some time before another first pressing surfaces In this condition again.
The Pink Rim labels are In excellent very clean condition.
The matt gate-fold sleeve Is In very nice condition. There are a few visible lines front & back, these are not creases, the lines must have been caused during the covers printing process. A very minor printing error that does not really detract much at all to the overall look & condition of the cover. There Is a small amount of light storage wear back bottom, & also a little wear on the spine, but all text Is still bold & clear & easy to read. This cover Is still In really nice shape though.
The original light blue Island Records Inner sleeve Is In nice condition too. Nice & clean, there are no rips or splits. The record will be shipped In a separate white poly-lined Inner sleeve to protect the original. I always remove the vinyl & Inner sleeve from the cover, this will avoid the outer cover getting seem splits during transit.
