NICK DRAKE five leaves left.
Original UK gate-fold sleeve album.
Released in 1969 on the ISLAND
(PINK LABEL BLACK CIRCLE LOGO) record label.
Catalogue number ILPS 9105.
MATRIX NUMBERS READ:
A-side ILPS 9105 A//2 & B-side ILPS 9105 B//2.
the record sleeve is clean solid and complete and in VERY GOOD+ condition. The sleeve displays no rips, no tears no seem splits and no deep sleeve creases.
The front sleeve displays some slight/light partial record sleeve ring wear, only on the top and the bottom, which has lightly scuffed the sleeve’s print in places.
Front sleeve displays a few small ultra light paper sleeve cracks/creases (similar to laminate cracks), mainly on/along the sleeve’s spine, there is a small light corner crease (not heavy and not through the sleeve) on/across the bottom right hand corner.
The record sleeve’s edges have some wear on the top, bottom, record insert edge and along the spine, which has resulted in some of the sleeve’s edge print scuffed and missing, with part of the spine album’s name print missing (see pictures).
The middle gatefold section has some ultra light sleeve surface scuffs mainly along the top edge, and some light traces of fingerprint marks, on the right hand side, owing to age and handling.
The back sleeve has a small blue mark (? Don’t know what this is) just to the left of Nick’s leg (opposite the knee/see picture), and the sleeve’s surface displays some slight/light surface wear (light sleeve scuffs and some ingrained dirt/discolouring) again owing to age and handling.
The record comes with the original protective poly lined record company inner sleeve. This displays some wear, mostly some slight discolouring owing to age and some light creases, however there are no rips, no tears and no sleeve splits, overall in VERY GOOD+ condition.
The A-side record label is in NEAR MINT condition, with full clear original label print and with no label damage. Spindle hole marks show light to moderately played, with some slight spindle hole wear evident.
The B-side label is "factory miss-pressed", and has left the (TOP) label with a wavy label textured surface. This is generally the result of a factory label pressing, which picks up two labels during the moulding stage ( RARELY SEEN!), and thus leaving the top label slight wavy and raised in places (and not flush with the record surface) and also with the first label still stuck underneath.
However in sight of this, the B-side label is in NEAR MINT condition, with full clear original label print and with no label damage, and only a few light barely visible spindle hole marks.
Both record playing surfaces are EXCELLENT in appearance with no immediate visible surface scuffs marks and still retain their original brilliant glossy sheen.
Close inspection under a bright light will reveal some surface scuffs, all of these are ultra light fine line surface scuffs, and there is definitely nothing heavy and nothing that you can feel.
The record play grades EXCELLENT there are no loud crackles no loud clicks no loud surface noise and no jumps.
There is some slight/light very low level background surface noise (light crackles) in places when played, but this is occasional and not consistent throughout playing, and does not overshadow the music in anyway.
For an acoustic album the sound is superb.
