Nickelback is a rock band formed in Hanna, Alberta by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and then drummer Brandon Kroeger.
Although the founders of the band hail from Hanna, Alberta, a small town east of Calgary, they are now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The band's name originates from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger often had to give customers in his previous job at Starbucks, and would frequently say "Here's your nickel back".[1]
The band is signed to EMI at home and Roadrunner Records for the rest of the world.
The State, released in 2000, is the second album released by the band Nickelback. "Leader of Men" was the lead single from this album and "Breathe" was the next single followed by "Old Enough" and "Worthy to Say".
It was first released in 1998 in Canada with a blue album cover as an independent record.
The album has a much darker sound than the follow-up albums Silver Side Up, The Long Road and All The Right Reasons.
