Description
There are three candidates for best Nico album--this, Marble Index, and Chelsea Girl. It depends on what you want. This is a pure Nico/John Cale collab, to the extent that Cale plays every instrument here except for Nico's harmonium, and Cale also did the arrangements. It's John and Yoko for an alternate reality.
They lead off with the unbelievable "Janitor of Lunacy" which lives up to its title, and they carry on from there.

This is the UK pressing with the unique "Strawberry" matrix etching...Discogs doesn't know what year, but it would have to be around 1971-2 I gather. Please let me know if you've got the scoop on the release date and I can update the listing.
Listening to this through a Stax Lambda (NB) headphone, I hear a very very faint bit of surface, and one single actual "tic" in the silent groove between cuts 1 and 2 on Side 1.
The sleeve's shiny with some wrinkle to the top inch of it, and a late-70's Sounds sticker from the very great lamented Saint Marks Sounds record store in the East Village, which sticker I haven't attempted to remove...otherwise it's lovely and fresh with no apparent edgewear to the sleeve.
We're lucky Cale is still with us...this is very worth having, for his contribution as much as hers.
