Description
Nirvana’s debut album "Bleach" released Sub Pop Records 1989.
The original was pressed on white vinyl. For a long time it was thought that this ‘marbled white’ version was simply an unreleased second pressing whose colour had failed to satisfy Sub Pop, however recent information has cast some doubt over this theory.
Information recently obtained from an ex Sub Pop employee states that this record was part of a batch pressed around the time of the release of nevermind. This batch was primarily black however a small number of unspecified coloured vinyl were also ordered. Of these it is estimated that approximately 200 of this particular colour were produced. Many Sub Pop staff were concerned that this pressing may be passed off as the original white version and so it never officially made it to the shelves of high street record stores. Most are thought to have found their way into the collections of company employees while a small number were distributed to journalists and those close to the band.
So it seems that this record was not produced in 1989 as a second pressing but in 1992 as part of a random batch. Both stories are entirely plausible but whichever you believe this is undeniably an extremely rare and collectible piece of music history.

Both record and sleeve are in excellent condition. I have not played this record; whether the previous owner played it I cannot say although the condition suggests not.
