Nota : The quantity of the Here She Comes Now/ Venus In Furs 7" split single has always been debatted. Old rumors indicated that there could be 1000 copies of each color, or maybe 1000 copies in total. Here I present two theories on the quantity.

1. The "hundred of each color" theory

This info is sourced from memory of an old website. We were not able to find that website again. The story was: A person found a scan of the invoice to the pressing plant regarding this release. It asked for 100 records per color, except 90 next to grey, and ten for any "off cuts" they could find (apparently this was pressed at the end of the processing line, and various random colors were left lying around). Apparently there may be muddy white, hot pink and splatter vinyls somewhere out there. In 2002 an orange 7" was spotted on eBay.com. Old rumors indicate that the orange records may have been given to the band members. A blue-grey copy has also been found. It's definitley a variation of blue, influenced by grey. Light green copies have been seen (twice, last on eBay in March 2003), this may be the muddy white mentioned above. There's also a mustard-like color, which probably is one of the ten last copies. A possible hot pink version has also been found, but it looks a bit like the red. Image below.

Remember that this theory is not based on first-hand information, and may be completely incorrect. Also, I am not completely sure which copies listed above would be from the last ten, but those which are rumored to be limited to 100 seem to be the most common ones. If this story is true, it makes a total number of 1000 copies, which sounds reasonable. Though look at the list above: I have accounted for 7-8 of the last ten copies. That sounds too good to be true.

2. The "wild employees at the pressing plant" theory

There appears to be more of some colors than other, which both should each be limited to 100. Over the last few years, there have been around 40 dark purple and 40 dark blue records on eBay, and only around 10 of most other (rumored) normal colors (see list above, all from grey and upwards are "normal"). And then there's the few which only have been spotted once/ twice. We can't just have found that many dark purple and blue by accident. It looks like there may be more of these two colors. Another theory on the quantity is therefor that the order from the label to the pressing plant was "1000 (or whatever number) singles on various colored vinyl, choose whichever colors you want."
