Description

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN RELISTED DUE TO A NON-PAYING BIDDER. I ONLY HAVE ONE COPY OF THIS RECORD. THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION IS MY ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION WHICH SINCE THE ENDING OF MY 1ST AUCTION HAS BEEN STOLEN BY TWO OTHER SELLERS! I ORIGINALLY SOLD THE RECORD FOR £150 BUT AM NOW OFFERING IT TO A LUCKY BUYER FOR £100!

Up for auction here is a very, very rare piece of Nirvana history.

This 7" single is a promotional copy of Nirvanas last ever single Pennyroyal Tea. On this record there are two tracks,

Side A -  Pennyroyal Tea ( Scott Litt Remix) This song was taken from their last studio album IN UTERO and was recorded by Steve Albini, then later remixed by Scott Litt and released on this single. This version has louder backing vocals to the album version and has a more 'harsher' sound.

Side B - I Hate Myself and I Want to Die. This was an outtake from  IN UTERO and was finally released on The Beavis and Butthead Experience compilation cd. The song title was the original title for IN UTERO.

The record comes in the original picture sleeve which is folded over but can be stuck down by the owner if desired but I would personally keep it in its original condition/state.

The record and the cover both state that it is for :

Promotional Use Only - Not for resale

So what is so special about the Pennyroyal Tea single?

The story goes that the single was due for release the weekend that Kurt Cobain died, however it was recalled due to the inclusion of the song 'I hate myself and I want to die'. However, although Geffen recalled most of the singles some could not be recalled as they had already been sold, these were all CD versions of which about 300 exist. NO RECORDS WERE SOLD. It is rumoured that Geffen had not started pressing the limited edition 7" single by the time of the recall, however promotional / test pressings were already being made, this is a promotional copy. I cannot say definitly that it is authentic but it does have the same superb artwork as the genuine cd and both the record and cover have legal writing etc.

This would make an ideal addition to any Nirvana collection...forget the Love Buzz single...Get this!!!!

The picture looks like the top of the record is missing...dont worry it isnt!
