NIRVANA The story of Simon Simopath - rare original UK 1967 Island LP
Island ILPS 9059, 1967 UK issue, matrix numbers ILPS+9059+A, ILPS+9059+B; pink, textured labels, black/orange circle (‘eyeball’) logo; laminated gatefold/envelope sleeve.
Cover VG+ Nearly 50 years old, this copy’s artwork is very much of its time and retains much of its original vibrancy, both on the front and inside. A laminated gatefold sleeve of light construction, it has a single thickness fold-over flap with internal pocket. There are some short, light creases on the front panel’s laminate, with a more significant one on the top left corner; a couple of faint marks; tiny rubbing to the surface of the bottom right corner; patches of slight frosting to the laminate gloss; two small spots of laminate lift. Rear panel has some creasing, bends, frosting and light marks similar to the front, with slightly more noticeable storage wear to the edges of the surface; a dent with creased laminate in the bottom right corner; light ring impressions. Internal panels have lighter reflections of the main creases, bends. Corners are slightly bumped and rubbed; mild wear to the edges, except a patch of moderate wear to the rear pocket; absolutely minimal wear to the spine.
Supplied in a new poly-lined inner sleeve, the original paper inner in ex. condition is also included.
Disc VG/VG+ Vinyl has a substantially near excellent appearance and play performance, labels excellent with just very minor manufacturing imperfections. While both sides have very light surface marks and some pressing dimples, the only mark affecting the sound is a very fine scratch on side 2, running from track 1 across into track 2, causing four or five dull pops in the track break and two clicks a little way into the second track. Some very light surface noise, snicks from dust or light crackle in track breaks, some also occasionally in the tracks, mostly very much in the background and not a distraction.
