VINYL: PERFECT NEAR MINT++ / ARCHIVE QUALITY
The heavy 180-gram record is in truly exceptional condition: perfectly clean, deeply glossy and beautifully preserved. It shows no relevant marks or visible signs of wear and appears to have been played only with the greatest possible care.
An outstanding Near Mint++ archive copy and about as beautiful as one could reasonably hope to find.
COVER: VERY GOOD
The cover is clean and remains structurally intact, without seam splits, tears or major edge damage. However, the cardboard is visibly wavy and rippled in places, which must be mentioned clearly.
The exact cause of the waviness cannot be confirmed. It may possibly be connected with previous exposure to moisture, but this is only a cautious assumption and not a verified fact. The visible waviness is the principal reason for the conservative VG grading.
Please inspect all cover photographs carefully before purchasing.
PROVENANCE
The record comes from the meticulously maintained private collection of a highly discerning audiophile. The vinyl itself was stored and handled with extraordinary care and survives in genuine archive condition.
AUDIOPHILE NOTE
The original Decca recording was made in July 1967 at the legendary Kingsway Hall in London and engineered by Kenneth Wilkinson, one of the defining architects of the celebrated Decca stereo sound.
Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos not only conducts the New Philharmonia Orchestra but also created the brilliant orchestration of Albéniz’s original piano pieces. His scoring transforms the music into a spectacular orchestral panorama filled with castanets, percussion, glowing strings, colourful woodwinds and powerful brass.
This early German Speakers Corner production from 1993 presents the recording on substantial 180-gram vinyl. SXL 6355 has long enjoyed an outstanding reputation among collectors for its vivid dynamics, expansive soundstage, natural orchestral colours and spectacular reproduction of percussion.
