Highly desirable early Philips stereo box set of Beethoven’s complete piano trios, performed by the legendary Beaux Arts Trio.
This is the original Philips 4 LP box issue, catalogue number 835 292/95 AY, released in the Netherlands in 1965. Early Philips stereo chamber music recordings are admired for their natural sound, refined balance and elegant presentation, and the Beaux Arts Trio remains one of the classic ensembles for this repertoire.
Important label note: This set contains two red Philips labels and two darker red / plum Philips labels. Early Philips stereo issues are known in several label variations, including Hi-Fi Stereo and plum / maroon label types. In a multi-LP box, such a mixture may reflect different early pressing or assembly batches. I describe this transparently; please study the photos carefully.
Vinyl condition: Visually, most sides are absolutely stunning, with deep mirror-like gloss and an almost unplayed appearance. Several sides look like true NM++ archive copies.
However, Side 2 has one deeper scratch which may be audible. I do not know how this happened, as the other sides are preserved in outstanding condition. Because of this one defect, the set is described conservatively and transparently.

Booklet: NM++ (Near Mint++) Crisp, immaculate and beautifully preserved. The paper remains fresh, bright and sharp, almost as if it had just left the printer. A remarkably clean and elegant insert with archive-like preservation.
Box: NM (Near Mint) Fantastic original box in clean, structurally solid condition with only minimal edge wear from careful storage. Attractive and very well preserved overall.
Under the golden HI-FI STEREO sticker, the same embossed marking can be felt underneath, which is an especially attractive detail of this high-quality original Philips box presentation.
Provenance: From the private archive estate of a notable music historian from the Frankfurt area. These copies were archived as reference editions and not used for regular listening. This explains the exceptional visual preservation of most sides.
Overall: A superb and rare archival Beethoven / Beaux Arts Trio Philips box with outstanding visual condition overall, but with one clearly disclosed defect on Side 2. A highly attractive collector’s set, honestly described and carefully graded

Important note: I personally do not like altering, replacing or “improving” original vintage sets by exchanging parts. Therefore, I leave everything exactly as found and include this second copy separately as a bonus. The new owner can decide freely whether to keep both sets as they are, use the second set as a reference copy, or handle the material according to their own collecting preference.
