Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. ORIGINAL first pressing extended 12inch EP containing NON-LP 45 A&B sides that were NOT on the famous "Other Half" LP ... This special edition is very scarce these days, having been released in small quantity some 35 years ago ONLY in Germany ...
Based in Los Angeles, the shining star of the OTHER HALF was Randy Holden, the group’s lead guitarist who had previously been in the surf group The Fender IV and the surf rock/hard rock band Sons of Adam. Prior to joining this band, Holden had been offered Jeff Beck’s recently vacated spot in The Yardbirds, but as Holden put it, “the band was to break up before space, time, and distance” could bring them together. Holden then found an outlet for his heavy guitar playing with this group, which featured members Jeff Nowlen on lead vocals, Geoff Westen on rhythm guitar, Larry Brown on bass, and Danny Woody on drums. Holden would often perform experimental guitar solos on stage, turning the volume up on half a dozen amps to full blast. The crowd loved it, but after a lukewarm reception to the band’s only album, Holden parted waysMr. Pharmacist was the A-Side of their first single, released on G.N.P. Crescendo in November of 1966. It would be their only release on that label. The band would relocate to San Francisco and move to Acta Records after this debut. Mr. Pharmacist, written by singer Jeff Nowlen, is a raver in the first order. Baritone vocals, wailing harmonica, grimy guitar, and an absolutely brilliant guitar solo from Randy Holden. Holden had come over to The Other Half from LA garage band, The Sons of Adam.
The flip-side of the single ain't so bad either. I've Come So Far features a pounding rhythm and a less aggressive approach, vocally and otherwise, than on the A-side. To this listener it reminds us a lot of the work that Zakary Thaks of Corpus Christi, Texas were doing at that time for J-Beck Records. Great guitar work from Holden and Yardbirds styled interplay with the harmonica. Plus it drops a Kinks reference in the lyrics. In fact, the vocals sound so different that I believe it may be Westen singing, and not Nowlen. Sadly I don't own this record and can't even tell you who composed this track. Ugh! The OTHER HALF continued with the formidable wailing fuzz hard garage attack on their next two tracks, the A & B sides of "It's Too Hard" and "I Know" ... afterwards their LP was released on "Atca" which ended their all too brief OTHER HALF
