NORA BAYES 12" 78 RPM WW1 SONG MAMMYS CHOCOLATE SOLDIER

This is a fantastic Nora Bayes 12 inch 78 record and both songs are WW1 Songs. The record is on the Columbia Label # A6051 recorded in 1918. The songs are: Mammy's Chocolate Soldier and The Man Who Put The Germ In Germany (What Is In The Name). This record has been very appreciated (listened to) but appears to have never been played with a steel needle because there is no graying to the shellac it is still very shiny. There is a rim chip on the Mammy's Chocolate Soldier side which just barely enters into the recording. Actually when I played it I set it right on the beginning of the song and it played fine it did not skip but it is there. The chip has been there a very long time and does not appear to be in danger of extending further into the recording. The record visually grades in V+ condition. Both songs played in V condition hitting V+ in quire a few areas I could understand every word. I am always happy to combine shipping. Please email me with any questions you may have. I feel grading 78 records as well as 33’s and 45’s are a matter of personal opinion to a certain degree. The VJM 78 Grading System in my opinion is the most accurate grading system I have come across.

The VJM 78 Grading System Is As Follows

N As new and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).

N– Nearly Mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.

E+ Plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.

E Still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.

E- Still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches.

V+ is an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.

V Moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.

A Note to my EBay Customers regarding DSR Ratings:

This is probably the most misunderstood of all the new eBay policies ... for Buyers and for Sellers! EBay tells Buyers that 4 stars, out of the maximum 5, are wonderful. EBay tells Sellers that 4 stars are terrible! EBay ''reminds'' Buyers that, since the stars are anonymous, YOU can be HONEST. You can! That is always your right, but you should have all the information and eBay isn't supplying that to you.

It is reasonable for a Buyer to assume that giving a seller a 4 Star rating is ''Good”, but eBay's New feedback system treats anything less than a 5 Star as sub-standard and penalizes sellers. If DSR ratings fall below 4.6, EBay will begin to restrict a seller’s listings.

I strive for 5 star service all around. Please consider leaving 5 stars in the detailed seller‘s ratings whenever possible and if you can’t, please let me know why, so I can improve upon it.
