Description

NORMAN FOX
& THE ROB ROYS

That’s 16 year old Norman Fox at the front of the group, the other members are John Charlton, Bob Trotman, Andre Lilly, Robert Thierer and Marshall "Buzzy" Helfand. The band took their name from the Rob Roy cocktail. They were from the Bronx and somehow got hooked up with a Duke / Peacock Records down in Houston for a deal with the new Backbeat Records imprint.

This recording of “Tell Me Why” hit the streets in the summer of 1957 and was just right for the times. It would later be covered by another area group the Belmonts ! This is the original chime-harmony classic and it’s flipped with “Audry.”
