Description
This great item is the vintage classical vinyl record 'Mozart: Highlights from Nozze di Figaro' - featuring Hilde Gueden, Lisa della Casa, Cesare Siepi and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Erich Kleiber, it was released on the Decca label with the catalogue number SXL 2035. With the sought-after 'Wide Band' label it is an original pressing dating from the Fifties. It is in, as can be seen, fantastic condition, looking as if carefully and rarely played and well stored. For a detailed description:
- Sleeve - bright and glossy with very little wear. Bottom flipback to rear coming loose but undamaged - could easily be repaired with a dot of glue. Some slight brown spotting to reverse.
- Record - visually inspected under a bright light i can see nothing - scratches or marks - that would affect the playing or sound quality. Some light spindle marks.
"This 1958 recording is one of the greatest Marriage of Figaro recordings available. Siepi's Figaro is lively and humorous. Suzanne Danco's Cherubino is flawless. Above all, Lisa della Casa's "dove sono" is absolutely divine. Her voice is expressive and her interpretation conveys her profound sadness at hearing her husband's declaration of love (but not intended for her) and yet with the utmost dignity and resolve. The sound quality for this 1958 recording is amazing. This recording is an important part of Erich Kleiber's finest recording legacy."
