THE UNDERGROUND SET

1970 UK PANTONIC PAN 6302

Here is a very rare original 1970 uk first pressing of this excellent private press psych-proto-prog album. The band the 'Underground Set' were often thought to be an English group, but it is now known that the musicians behind this first 'Underground Set' album were in fact the first line-up of the Italian progressive rock band 'Nuova Idea'. The album is musically excellent mainly instrumental psych with some superb lead guitar and organ. This uk debut release was only ever pressed in very small quantities and sold very poorly at the time, so original copies do not surface for sale very often at all. This rare original first pressing on offer here is in EX+ very clean condition and both sides play and sound superb throughout.

 

 

1ST PRESS VINYL = EX+

The vinyl is in EX+ very clean condition and has obviously been very well looked after and barely played at all. Both sides have a really superb original deep sheen, there are only a couple of extremely light top surface lines and a few even lighter sleeve withdrawal traces visible in harsher light, there are no nasty or deep marks, scuffs or scratches at all, so when played there are no loud clicks or pops to be heard and no annoying loud crackle. All tracks play and sound excellent throughout, the sound quality is top excellent from beginning to end with barely even a trace of background crackle. This is just a brilliant original first pressing that plays and sounds brilliant throughout and will definitely not disappoint in any way.

PANTONIC LABELS = NM

The matt orange pantonic labels are in excellent very clean condition and look very near perfect. There are just a few light spindle traces visible when the labels are tilted towards a certain light, otherwise these labels are as new.

FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE + EX

The front laminated matt backed single sleeve is in excellent condition. The front lamination still has a very nice glossy sheen, there are just a few light lamination creases/shifts. The back cover is clean but with some very minor signs of age/discolouration and a few very small light marks, as you can see from the pictures this really is not bad at all. The top edge is excellent and free of wear and the bottom edge only has a couple of very small worn areas. The spine is in nice shape with all text clear and easy to read, there is a small narrow area of lamination lifting at the centre of the spine. This cover is still in excellent condition with no bad faults at all. The original white paper inner sleeve is in very good with some creasing/crumpling.

I pack my records very well, the album will be removed from the outer cover to avoid seem/edge splits in transit, plenty of rigid cardboard support will be used to avoid corners bending, this album will reach you in the same condition as advertised.
