Description
The success of the Television series, MAD MEN. has created an interest and aura of nostalgia around the 50's-60's advertising creative revolution spawned by the New York ad agencies of that period. Offered is a Long Play 12-inch red vinyl record that was apparently distributed to promote the work and creativity of the FORRELL, THOMAS, & POLACK, INC. agency. Their specialty appeared to be the use of intelligent, creative humor.
Side One features an extended tongue-in-cheek comedic inside look at the creation of an ad for the fictitious Huberts Pork & Beans. Side Two includes thirteen all different radio spot ads for their clients. There are two each for GMAC, PRINCE SPAGHETTI and VICEROY Cigarettes with one each for LEVY'S BREAD, WINSTON Cigarettes, M&M'S, TWA Airline, SIESTA COFFEE, NATIONAL TRUST COMPANY, and SEATTLE SAVINGS & LOAN.
No jingles but all have a humor theme to sell the product. Many of the voice over artists sound familiar but the only one I specifically recognized was CARL BALLANTINE in the VICEROY ads. I don't know the exact date but judging by the content and style of the ads, phone number (Circle prefix) and address (Zone in lieu of Zip Code) on the labels, the distribution would probably have been a few years either side of 1960.
VG condition red vinyl - nice player with a lot of lustre and clean labels with just a few light sleeve scuffs and micro-scratches.
