Description
For sale is Nanci Griffith's Storms, originally released in 1989 by MCA Records, reissued and remastered by the German Company Alto Analogue in 1997. This reissue was made possible by Ying Tan, formerly Mark Hobson's partner at Classic Records, as a joint partnership between the German Alto High Fidelity label and Tan's UK-based Quality Music and Entertainment. Their goal is "to release the best pop, rock, jazz and classical titles possible", using original analog sources, the best mastering facilities, and 180 gram "Super-vinyl". In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is etched a "BG", indicating that the lacquer was cut by Bernie Grundman. These are all hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound qualities. I bought this record new when it was released, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded as Near Mint because of two very slight corner blunts and a stress crack along the spine. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint. I'm play grading it as Near Mint. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This is the best copy of this album that I have ever seen or heard. It is simply a perfectly balanced, focused Audiophile gem. You would be hard pressed to find one in any condition, period! This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
