Description
For sale is a vinyl record by Nancy Wilson and Julian "Cannonball" Adderley titled "Nancy Wilson/Cannonball Adderley" originally released in 1961 by Capitol Records, then reissued between 1972-1976with yellow labels that have a red cut-off "Capitol" logo at the bottom. These labels were only used between 1972 and 1976. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks is machine stamped "O", followed by "Mastered by Capitol" "JAM" and the matrix numbers H-15/H-12, indicating that this record was mastered by Jay Maynard at Capitol Studios in Hollywood, California, before later stampers were used to make this record at Capitol Records' pressing plant located in Jacksonville, Illinois. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. Doing this preserves the integrity of the vinyl and any original insert(s) or inner sleeve(s) that may have come with the release. There is no original inner sleeve with this listing. The cover is graded as Excellent because of minor corner blunts and tape covering the upper left hand corner and down the spine about four inches. The spine has a little damage to the top corner that is covered in tape. The Vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint, with surfaces that are shiny and bright, in a like-new condition, without any sleeve marks, surface scratches or spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading this wonderful record between Excellent and Near Mint Minus because of occasional super low levels of surface noise and a pop on Side Two. It plays all the way through with out any skips or lock-ups from start to finish. This is still one of the best copies of this album that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition, especially a Jacksonville pressing. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
