Description
IDEAL 018. La Tipica (polka) / El Barranquito (bals-bajito). Narciso Martinez first recorded for the Bluebird label in 1936. He performed around the Rio Grande valley of Texas and was known as "The Hurricane Of The Valley". After World War 2, he signed with the Ideal label, based in Alice, Tx. His unique style of playing, and the fact that he backed up so many of Ideal's other artists, earned him the title of Father of Conjunto Music. He was always accompanied on Bajo Sexto by his friend Santiago Almeida.
