From my personal collection....
Very rare limited numbered gold pressing of Nas' legendary debut album Illmatic kept in safe storage.
Released in 2020 only in the Netherlands to celebrate a store anniversary this is copy 374 of 500 in total and therefore this record is not easy to find.
The pressing has been done superbly by Optimal. I am very familiar with this record having owned many variants and i will stand by this being the best sounding of the lot. The vinyl is much thicker and heavier than the standard issues and has a gorgeous melted marble effect as shown, though to call it "gold" is a stretch! It plays with very little noise throughout, indeed better than any copy ive heard to date on this front too. It has only been played twice in total. It has been ultrasonically cleaned and placed in an anti static inner to complement the printed inner.
MINOR DISCLAIMER: Its worth noting that the hotness (which can lead to sibilance on these end of side tracks) of Halftime and Aint Hard to Tell which is present on EVERY Illmatic copy is also present here but the sensible mastering (smoother) allows this to be less prevalent than on any other copy ive heard to date too. For this reason alone i state this edition as definitive. It mist be noted that ive only tested this with a Microline styli cart. Played with a larger radius needle such as a conical or elliptical you should expect the distortions to be more notable. Your system will determine how good this edition can sound!
The jacket is still in the shrink complete with the Concerto numbered hype sticker as shown. The printed inner is present as mentioned. The condition of both is flawless with no splits, dings, creases or any storage wear whatsoever!
Truly an archival copy of what i consider the best Illmatic issue to date.
