Necros Sex Drive uncut sleeve Touch & Go Records '81/'9?
Uncut reprint of the famous Pistols sleeve for the Necros first record. And may I remind you, this is just the sleeve, no record. If you're already familiar with the story, you can leave the room, get a sandwich. At the time of the original release back in '81, I was taking print classes at LCC where I had been printing the covers for the magazine, issues #8 and #10 thru #14. The original design for the sleeve was to have the song titles listed above the band members, and the only machine that could handle 11" x 17" sheets of paper was an old unreliable Chief. Sure enough, the Chief could not print a solid black on the red paper, looking very washed out and faded. So I moved the project to an AB Dick machine. Much more reliable; however, the new machine could only accept 8 1/2" x 11" sheets of paper, forcing me to lop off the song titles. All copies of the single got these new edited sleeves. Of the sleeves printed on the Chief, roughly 5, maybe less, survived, making it one rare puppy, indeed. Fast forward roughly 15 years, I'm living in Arlington now, and you know what? I still have the original metal plate that I used on the Chief. So, I take that plate to a print shop here in town and have them run off 100 copies, looking nice and black the way I originally wanted all those years ago. Anyway, I got 5 copies of the sleeve from the original 100 up for sale. Postage in the US is free and $10 worldwide. They will be rolled and shipped in a tube.
