Description

Negro Folk Music of Alabama. Volumes 1 to 6.  Ethnic Folkways Library ( FE 4417/18, 4471/72/73/74) A scarce complete set of the field recordings made by Harold Courlander in eastern Alabama in the winter of 1950. There are great artists here -  Rich Emerson,Vera Hall and Dock Reed - as well evocations of a lost world in the skipping songs of children, work songs and field calls, and church spirituals.   All the records are in very good condition, and all the booklet inserts are present and complete. The sleeves are also in good condition, although some of the heavy, cardboard sleeves have minor splits( which have been taped) as is not uncommon with Folkways records of this period.
