Neil Ardley - A Symphony of Amaranths. Vinyl LP

 

 

Released on the Regal Zonophone label in 1972, and recorded in stereo (catalog # SLRZ1028). Very rare experimental British jazz record, featuring many of the leading lights of the British Avant-Garde (Ivor Cutler, Stan Tracey, Norma Winstone, Don Rendell). Track listing: Side 1 - A Symphony of Amaranths (a tribute to Duke Ellington and Gil Evans). Side 2 - The Dong with a luminous nose (features vocals of Ivor Cutler and the words of Edward Lear), Three Poems (features the vocals of Norma Winstone and the words of W.B. Yates and James Joyce). One of the most unusual albums ever released in Britian! The vinyl is in v.good condition, with only a few light scatches, particularly on the last track of side 2, but this does not effect playback. Sleeve is in excellent condition.
