Neil Slater/ Art Epstein/ Andy Lalino "Way Out East" b/w "Tiamot" (York) 196?
Super enjoyable little hard bopping double sider with modal, latin, and exotica touches. "Way Out East" moves in a Jazz Messenger-ish way through a "No Hay Problema"-sounding tune while "Tiamot" alternates a "So What"-style head with a bluesier B section. Very, very nice. Both cuts are Slater compositions; he came out of the Kenton band and went on to teach at the University of North Texas where he led the One O'Clock Lab Band for a long time. 

This is a terrific little 7" on obscure U.S. YORK label #DL-208, by The trio of NEIL SLATER, ART EPSTEIN, & ANDY LALINO. Tunes are: WAY OUT EAST & TIAMOT. If you dig intimate, modern, bop jazz etc  you'll love this little jewel.
