This record has been cleaned on a Vpi HW27 Typhoon Record Cleaning Machine! Original UK 1st pressing. RSLP A1/B1 matrixes (very scarce), Gatefold sleeve, original fold-out lyric insert. Printed by McNeill press (only these first issues were done so) 'A Warner Brothers Records, USA' text on labels. Mastering by PYE Records (UK). Bonafide complete UK 1st issue complete.

Well... 'Only Love Can Break Your Heart'.. that does it for me... but of course everyone has their own favorite tune from this beautiful album.. 'Birds', 'Don't Let It Bring You Down', even 'Southern Man' with all its connotations... a true classic.
Fair to say that it's light-years ahead of its time in terms of vision and honesty, and yet today it seems a throwback to the very same honesty that today's rock seems to lack. I love this album dearly. I have recorded this very vinyl in Hi-Res to keep for myself so I can continue to enjoy it (in memorium) but it's time to pass this beauty on to the next owner. The next owner will receive a bona-fide classic.

And it's also the very first issue, with all the correct text on the labels and crucially, the very rare A1/B1 matrixes which were rapidly succeeded by a bigger run of A2/B2 and then the changeover to the Kinney plant productions and the 'K' matrixes.. which lacked a certain something, whereas original PYE pressings of this vintage are highly collectible for their sound quality and this is no different. I can safely say, hand on heart, that this sounds glorious. It does have the typical PYE (very) slight background pressing noise but the tape transfer and mastering is just lovely. It's just better than the later pressings for real depth.

It really benefits from a good system.. if you're a vinyl fan and a fan of this album as well, I strongly recommend this item to you. You really won't see many better examples.
