Description

This is a BEFORE FIRST RELEASE Test Pressing of the classic Neil Young album “Comes A Time”. The album’s release date was October 6, 1978. This test pressing was made March 22, 1973 from master tapes. It does not get better than this!

This album was mastered to perfection by George Horn. The Reprise catalog number is MSK 2266. This information and more is on the ORIGINAL LABEL COPY SHEET included with this record.

About Test Pressings: Before the records are put out on general release, a small run of test pressings are produced. This is done by using the first plate. These test pressings tend to be either printed with blank labels or specific "test pressing" labels. These pressings occur before any promotional copies are pressed. Test pressings are the “first of the first”.

Now here is the great news. This “Comes A Time” test pressing plays MINT. Under a bright light, both vinyl sides lack scratches and retain their original luster. The sound is glorious. You have not really heard “Comes A Time”, “Look Out For My Love” or “Lotta Love” (my favorite three tracks) until you have played this test pressing. The air, separation, dynamics, etc. are incredible.
