Description
New Music Seminar, New York City 1982. Warner/Sire/Geffen commissioned a dance mix of all their 1983 releases which included Madonna’s debut and the breakthrough albums for Prince (1999) and Talking Heads along with new releases by Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, etc. This was given away to select attendees only so it’s pretty rare.
As you may recall, in 1983 nobody had ever heard of Madonna and while Prince had released a few LPs his MTV debut and big breakthrough album 1999 had not come out and Purple Rain was yet to come. So for many who received this promo, it was the first time hearing either!
